🏡 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your At-Home Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons at home are a fun and convenient way to learn. To make sure the experience is safe, smooth, and rewarding, here are some practical tips:
🎒 1. What You’ll Need
Have everything ready before your lesson begins:
- 👙 Swimsuit
- 🕶️ Goggles (Only recommended for students who are already familiar with water—those who can submerge and open their eyes underwater without goggles. If your child isn’t yet comfortable doing this, we suggest not using goggles at this stage.)
- 🧥 Wetsuit (Optional, but highly recommended for little ones if the water isn’t warm. If your pool is in the shade or during cooler months, a wetsuit like this one can make the experience more enjoyable and help the learning process.)
- 🧼 Towel
- 👶 For children who are not yet potty trained: swim diapers are mandatory (there are many great options available online).
⏱️ 2. Punctuality & Lesson Time
Although we will try very hard to be on time ⏳, our instructors may arrive a few minutes early or late depending on traffic 🚗 or travel time between homes 🏠.
Under normal circumstances, we’ll be knocking on your door between 10 and 5 minutes before the lesson starts so everything can begin right on time 📍.
Don’t worry if we are late —the lesson officially starts once we’re in the water 💧 not when we arrive!
To help us stay on schedule and be punctual for all families, please make sure your children are swim-ready before we arrive 👙🩳😊.
👨👩👧 3. Should a Parent Be Present?
✅ Yes—if your child isn’t yet independent in the water.
At SwimForFun, we often do exercises without flotation devices, meaning the instructor is the only safety line.
So if your child can’t yet stay afloat on their own, an adult must be present for the entire session to ensure their safety.
🔇 4. Keep the Pool Calm and Clear
To ensure a smooth class, the pool environment should be as calm and focused as possible:
- 🔕 Turn off any noisy pool machinery (jets, fountains, filters, etc.).
- 🧸 Remove toys, floaties, water guns, or anything else that might distract your child during the lesson.
A peaceful environment helps children concentrate, enjoy their time more, and make the most of each minute in the water.
💬 5. Questions?
Feel free to ask us anything about your child’s development, the lessons, or what equipment to use.
